wheels and tires

I have a 1995 honda prelude special edition. I want to put on MKW MK12 17 inch wheels with 215/40zr-17 Yokohama tires. I put eibach springs on it to lower the car 1.2 inches in the front and 1.4 inches in the back. will this work on my car?

What would be the difference with going with 205/45-17 or 215/40-17?

More traction first of all with the 215. But bad idea with 17's. My opinion is going only with a 16, thats the largest. Otherwise you will lose power because it takes the rim longer to complete a revolution than it would be with a 15 or 16in rim. Unless the rims you are buying are very light like my volk te-37 16's that weigh only 11lbs. BEST rims ever had.

Do It

I lowered my prelude almost 2" and my 205/40/17s fit just fine. They are close to the diameter of my stock wheels and I have had no problems. They were a hair bigger and only threw my speedometer off a 10th. At 60 I am really doing 59 and change. You will be fine. Check out http://www.dakota-truck.net/TIRECALC/tirecalc.html and compare your stock to aftermarket dimensions
