Sunroof Track alignment/ cruise control

97 Jetta

Ok, 2 probs.

Prob 1: Cruise control went out last night, don't work, no clue. any ideas? speedometer still works.

Prob 2: Sunroof open. Starts to rain, so i close it, It almost closes, then stops, then opens itself back up. stays open. wouldnt do nothing.

got home, checked it, the motor was clicking, and tryin to move, but seemed to be at the end of its cycle (thinking it was already closed, but was open). thought it was motor.
Took out motor, plugged it back in, and the motor works on all 3 switches. Window slides when i pull and push it manually, so the track is not jammed.
I finally got it to work again, but dont think the alignment is right.
Does anyone know where the window should be when i try to reset it?
Is there a correct position this should be done from? Like a 0 point.?

i.e. Push the full open button til the motor stops. Push the window all the way open. then re-insert the motor at that position?

any info would be cool, thanks
