Heating/coolant problem
1994 Taurus wagon (3.8L)
Bought a used Tarus wagon with 106,000 miles on it. New radiator had been installed. Noticed the temp gauge to push upper limit at times and then drop. It repeated this over and over. When it was peaking, no heat, when it dropped, heat. Replaced the thermostat....same problem. I opened the radiator cap and there was a bunh of gunk around the inside. When I tried opening the drain cock on the radiator, all that came out was a few dribbles of brownish liquid. The overflow resevoir is at the right level of coolant. Help!!! |

Check the condition of the hoses too. Especially the bottom one. Replace it if it's at all questionable!
