I really like the Tauruses

Especially the current body ones. Are they reliable, and do they come in leather, because everytime I go on vacation, I always ask hertz for the Taurus.

As far as I know, all the bugs have been worked out of the Taurus's design. And crash protection is second to nobody!

I've sat in two different Taurii as they were being smashed all to he!!. Both times, the Taurus drove away. One was an '89 wagon, the other a '96 GL.

This made an absolute, true believer out of a GM guy. GM may be as good. I don't know. But I do know about the Taurus!

They come in leather and the newer ones (00-04) are great. Though I'd recommend buying an 02 or newer because that way the problems of the first year/two will have been worked out. If you don't wanna shell out that kinda cash go for a 99.

Although if I had a TL Type S with navigation, I'd drive it everywhere when I went on vacation.

It's kind of hard, especially travelling 3000 miles.

nah i wouldn't say so. everyone says the 1st gen taurus was some kind of automotive revolution. it was a carbon copy of what the euro manufactuers were doing but a mcdonalds'd version if you will...pushrod motor, supersized with your choice of side orders... the second gen taurus did nothing but clean up on the design following the european styling again by rounding off the car. and the third gen, you guessed it, it kinda looks like a mutated jaguar! and the fourth gen is once again following the trend except embracing more japanese styling except to the less xtreme extent expected by owners of american cars.

it's all the same stuff in a different package...
