Question 99 Tahoe Fuel Pump

I just bought a 99 Tahoe a couple of weeks ago and I notice that the fuel pump makes a high pitch whining sound. Its not too loud but definitely noticable when standing beside the truck. The pitch is always the same and the truck runs great, with no power loss or stalling. Is this normal for the fuel pump to sound like this on these trucks or is it a sign of impending doom? Thanks for your help!!!!

Noise is not a good sign!
I have had customers who have driven their trucks for years with a noisey pump and others who didn't last a week.

Re: 99 Tahoe Fuel Pump

My wife's '01 Suburban does this, no problems anywhere. I guess it justone of those things we have to live with.

Re: 99 Tahoe Fuel Pump

Yeah, my 2000 Tahoe also whines, and I had to replace it at 34,000 miles. It was whining not long afte I bought it new and failed after about a year. It was still under warranty. The truck now has hit 100,000 and has been whining for quite a while again. I took it to the dealer last week and they said there is a lifetime warranty on the fuel pump, unless it was replaced under warranty. Does that make sense? I don't know if I will spend the money (I think about $600) or whine myself for a while longer.
