Grand Prix 97 Remote signal problems

Took my Grand Prix 97 into shop today and they said the remote sends a signal but the receiver does not pick it up. They would like 3-4 shop hours to trouble shoot it but may not fix it. That is over $200 without knowing that it will fix my problem. I can purchase an installed after market keyless entry system installed at bestbuy for $150.

I would like to stay with my original equipment. Can anyone help tell me where the receive module is located and how I might trouble shoot this situation. I was told they tried reprogramming it and that didn't help.

thanks, Dave

Re: Grand Prix 97 Remote signal problems

The receiver module for the newer Grand Prixs is inside the dash. If the reciever is faulty, then it will need to be replaced. You can probably get one from a junkyard pretty cheap.
