Possible V8 Swap

Ok here is the deal
im looking to get 400+ hp and a shit load of torque
I have access to a 4x4 mud racer engine out of a jeep
its a jeep 360 with 425 hp and like 300+ torque dont know exact numbers on the torque. its a blower motor minus the blower.

anyway im trying to find out if its even possible to drop this motor in and if so what do i need to do besides the motor mounts etc to hold the car together at those kinds of raw power.
next question is if i want 400+ hp with lots and lots of torque forged everything performance everything with option to add nos to it later what do i need to change such as clutch trany and if so what kind i know i will need bigger radiator but im really looking to do a conversion with out cutting out my trunk. any insite would be grately appreciated
tyia

It depends, The Gertrag should easily survive, and I belive the 4 speed muncie would. I'd recommend a racing type clutch.

To put the motor in the car you'll need quite a few parts it would probably be cheaper to put in a SBC.

It will survive just dont go doing 6 grand burn outs, no matter what stock tranny you have it won't survive them.

check out http://www.speclutches.com, I got a stage 3 good for 400 HP/450 TQ.

Works awesome for me and grabs like no tomorrow and I believe I have roughly 280-300 HP at the wheels.

blue ya if i wasnt getting a 4000 dollar blower motor w/ no blower for 500 bucks u would be right
total cost after 500 motor and 400 for plate to bolt it to my bell housing pluss 1500 in parts and shit to make it work is way cheaper then a 425hp 450 torque crate engine
thanks for the v8archie link but been there many times thanks anyway supercarman

next question i need to know if the stock gt 6cyl 4 speed is the one with the shaft of 4.686 or if its the 5. something
the conversion plate will fit to the 4.686 tranny not the other does anyone know? lol dont want to have to pull my tranny to find out it dont work

Hey, if you want (or if it would work) I do have an Isuzu 5 speed...
Also how about an old Poncho motor I've never seen one of them in a Fiero.

Re: Possible V8 Swap

hey vlad and fiero nut, I have some Q's.

I plan om putting a sbc 350 in my 85 fiero, but I don't want to get the archie master kit, 3k is kinda steep. What I've been wondering for the past 2 weeks is if I can use the economy kit and keep the sbc's starter, and water pump. If you have a donor car is it possible to swap with out spending 3k on the master kit?
