Surging idle after motor swap?

I recently swapped in a 1995 integra ls b18b1 motor into my 1995 civic ex d16 chassie. the motor surges when it idles, what could cause this? I swapped the motor and computer over and it did not do this in my integra. I do not see any vacuum lines not hooked up. Is it possible that I just havent drove the car on the road yet? Also it idles kinda high but that might be because I havent let it fully warmed up yet.

Kyle.

Oh one more question the dash on the civic sometimes doesnt work and the last owner told me to wiggle the wires under the dash around the fuse block area for the dash to work - what wires would this be? the tach/speedo/fuel/temp dont work and I cant find the wires that made it do it - he came over and messed with it and it worked he showed me where he hits the wires but I do it and nothing.

Okay I let her warm up and it stayed idleing around 2000rpm, I unpluged the IAC and it droped down to a nice 1000 rpm but the cheak engine light came on - is my IAC bad or is it something else that is making it idle high? It idles smooth at 2000 rpm but when you rev it is when it starts surging from - it will drop down to 1k then brings it to 2k then back to 1k back and forth for a while.

Also when I bend my fuse box the dash goes on?

was the throttle body taken off at any point? My guess is that its a vacuum leak somewhere. Well good luck to ya and i hope you can get it runnin good.

there is a valve on the bottom of the throttle body. i dont know the correct term for it but it acts similar to your iac valve. it has two water lines running to it. take your intake tube off your throttle body and with the car running make sure your butterfly is closed. there should be two holes right in front of your butterfly. take your finger and stop the holes up. see if this corrects your idle. if it does let me know, i'll tell you how to fix this.

Re: Surging idle after motor swap?

This post reminded me that mine did the same exact thing. I didn't do anything and it went away after about a week. Sorry no technical help, but maybe just driving it around coughed up the hairball..?

Idling problem

I had the same problem with my B18A motor. Many of my friends with B series engines have had the same problem as well, and for every case so far we have found the fast idle valve had an internal vacuum leak. It should be on the left side of your intake manifold just under the throttle body. I believe three bolts hold it, after you take it out, unscrew the twol smaller screws that hold the cap and with a large flat head screwdriver unscrew the inner part of the valve, clean it up, and re-tighten it. That most likely would be a case of your problem

Hope that helps let me know bro.

Re: Surging idle after motor swap?

coulds be you TPS as well. or the EGR valve check all of that, also somtimes if you run it around and run it hard a few times it could straighten up.

Re: Surging idle after motor swap?

ive been having the same problems with my 91 B16 rex, and a while ago i tried cleaning up and retightening the bolt in the idle control valve like 1990lsvtec said, and though my problem is better, it is still idling high, maybe at 1500-1700. any other ideas??
