speedometer off by about 8 mph?

My speedometer on my accord is off by about 8-10 mph is this easily fixable? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

above 60mhp speedometers start to shown speed higher then actual speed that you traveling with. and faster you go more unacurate it gets.

BTW, you cann't calibrate speedometers.

do you have bigger rims/tires? how do you know that its off??

no i have stock tires on it, 15 inches. i know that it's off because i've rode side by side with a couple other cars and my speedometer reads 8 mph faster

yea, there is no real way to fix that. You really need to get the exact same car next to you and ask what they are doing. It might just be a defect in it.

the only way to calculate it is to drive on a strech of road with a measured mile not the mile markers you see on the side of the road either and do the calculations. also who is to say that there speedometer isn't off and yours is right and there is an exceptible amount of difference allowed by honda I forget what it is but I know its at least 5 mile per hour.

ok I just checked here is the correct way to check do 60mph and set the cruise control, on a measured mile with a stop watch at the end of the mile if it took between 60-66 seconds then its within tolerance.
