89 LX Dash removal ???

Trying to remove the black part of the dash in front of the gauges.
I have removed the two screws on either side of the steering column and also the two screws in the top of the panel.
Question is how to remove the sides without breaking the piece.
This is the one-piece that has the drivers side AC vent and also the center AC vents all in one. It also has the clock, dash light dimmer switch and the rear defroster switch attached to it.
Any help is appreciated!!!

Thanks

Brad

I took it off my DX at the beginning of the summer but can't remember exactly what all I had to do.....I think you might have to take the cover off of the top of the guage pod to get at a couple of screws in there but im not sure.

i have never done it on my Civic but with other dashes i know that after all the screws are out and it's still snug in there, you then have to be very careful and pry and pull. the pick tool is your friend. be careful not to break it!!
