X pipe

Does a x pipe give you hp, i put on on my car today and it kinda made it quiter i was thinking it may cancel out the sound waves and make it queit, cause i got cherry bonbs so there strait through i would think it would be lounder. And does the x pipe go before or after the mufflers

All I gotta say is that the X-pipe works awesome, it just makes the engine smoother and less strained..I don't know it just feels right!

and it goes in front of the mufflers.

A X-pipe will give you more power in the mid to upper rpms. I have never heard an x-pipe, but from what I am told they will be quieter then an h-pipe.

I have a Dr. gas X-pipe and it goes in front of the mufflers, it made my car a little louder but the tone did change dramatically it sounds WAY better and it does give way better hp put some headers on and it will sound even better.

Biggest complaint I have heard about X-pipes is that they tend to give the car a raspy sound. Also I have heard that X-pipes and flowmaster dont work/sound well together, this is just something some people have said to me... I dont know if it's true or not cause I dont like Flows

Hey guys, I know I am not a Mustang owner but thought to share something. Here is an article from Car Craft that I read sometime ago comparing the open header, H-pipe, and the x-pipe on a Mustang. It looks like the x-pipe does make better power than any other setup.

It's a 305 and factory handicapped with a peanut cam. I hate those GM engineers, what were they thinking. Anyways it needs a paint job and a cam change which are going to happen this fall, hopefully.

CRXsk8er, what is your x-pipe made of?

Not to want to put your efforts down but I would not use the x-pipe you fabricated. An x-pipe built by some company like Magnaflow, BBK, Bassani, or any other company will give you the best flow because of the engineering behind the product. If you're on a budget as most of us are, taking a shortcut will probably be setting you back in performance and you'll end up being disappointed at the results.

i say give it a try - if it sucks take it off, it wasn't more then 50 bucks anyways. If it's tight you made it yourself, which makes it much cooler. i was impressed that you made it yourself.

The picture you have posted looks just like the X portion of the pipe. There are no flanges, brackets or bungs for the o2 sensors. Which means you would probably be welding it in line of your current catalytic h pipe? So if that is you plan just be careful, cause if something goes wrong you won't have the stock pipe to put back on. Good luck!
