interior clearcoating

I painted my interior with krylon fusion and it turns out I'm gonna need to clearcoat it. What kind of clearcoat should I use for plastics and vinyl?

The clearcoat isnt touching the vinyl, so thats not the question. You need to know what kind of clear you need for krylon paint. And I guess the answer would be, any kind of clear coat you want. It depends on what you want it to do and what its gonna have to deal with. You could always use automotive grade clear for a pretty hefty investment (and assuming you had spray gun to put it on with), or buy some cheap stuff at your local parts store in a spray can. The only real difference, is that the auto grade clear will last, and will stand up to about anything and the cheap stuff... No one knows; well I do know that it doesn't handle methanol... Figured that out the hard way

i was wondering the same thing..because i just painted my cousins 93 integra on the inside..and it turned out realllly GOOOOOD ...i was thinking about putting a clear coat but i was afraid the paint would run..or if i messed it up then all the hard work we put into it would go down the dran..but what difference does the clear coat make..and is it worth the trouble? i will try to get some pictures of his car..but we basically painted the whole interior white..and the outside of th car is dark blue kinda like the civic si blue..so i was wondering what other paint i should go with to match up with the white and the exterior?

Any recommendations on a brand of clearcoat to buy or a link to where I can find some? When I search clearcoat online I never find what I'm looking for (something cheap).

If you want some cheap clearcoat, then there basically isnt much choice, goto your local parts store, and buy the only can they have. Or you can goto an auto PAINT store, and ask them what they suggest, although they probably won't know. But if you want good clearcoat, itll cost you about 80-100 bucks. I dont know what you consider "cheap", but those are the options. I dont know of any clear specifically made for vinyl, becuase it doesnt ever touch the vinyl. www.houseofkolor.com has some "expencive" clear, and you can find a place in your area from them (distributor link). Other than that, no help here.

krylon makes a clearcoat. A local autoparts store will carry that.

i used the krylon fusion stuff too. everything turned out great except the door panels. i originally was gonna use duplicolor vinyl paint for the panels cause they aren't hard plastic but i was on a roll. vinyl was also listed on the fusion can so i thought it would be fine. NOPE. the shit never dried. stayed tacky. so i actually called up 1-800-krylon and the guy said that they were finding that the stuff reacted wierd with some plastics. ummm....ok... isn't that what it's for? told me i needed a sealer for it and he was going to send me some for free. got two cans of clear coat in the mail. i had clear coat in the garage but i waited a week for their fancy sealer. long story short...i ended up just cleaning the panels again and spraying a couple more coats of the fusion paint. round two turned out flawless. after the first 24 hrs you have to wait a week to recoat. but if you want to cleat coat, i would suggest sticking with krylon. clear gloss #7110 is what they sent me. give them a call....the first guy was no help but the second time i called, Jim, hooked me up with two cans. freebies!!
