Unhappy Fuse Problem

I just purchased a 1987 528e. It has high miles, but very solid car. I installed an aftermarket alarm system in it a few days after I got it. One of the fuses kept on blowing on it. I replaced the fuse until I noticed that some of the other fuses where wrong in the fuse box...ie 25 amp in an 8 amp slot. Well I replaced the three wrong fuses and the blown fused with the correct amp fuse. Well one of the fuses that I corrected with the correct fuse blew tonight. My alarm sill worked but my sunroof didnt'. I know there has to be a short somewhere, but where? Please someone help me....this is getting annoying to me replacing fuses every week or so.

Smile fuse box

I had and continue to have recurring problems with the fuse box. (84 533i) I have already replaced the box once after parts were starting to melt - its not melting anymore but everytime I have an electrical problem - e.g. fan motor not working, low beams out etc. the first place I look is the box - jiggle a few fuses - and the problem goes away. I read somewher that you can replace the box the box with updated style fuse box with newer style fuses - but cannot track this info down.

Good luck.
