Thumbs up Worked some "overtime" this past weekend

Well a few weeks ago my supervisor asked me if I could come in for a few hours on a Saturday to help move some stuff out of our kitchen/lounge area. We're getting a new vending machine in there and some room needed to be cleared. So we agreed on Saturday the 13th around 11. She said it would be for just a few hours or so. So I went into work yesterday and when I got there her truck was already there so I went up the stairs and then started to go thru the back door (which is across from the main entry door...which is a large glass door). I heard her yell my name and turned around and saw her motioning me to come into the main door. THe lights were off but I could see her. She was standing behind the front desk. I didn't think anything of it. So I opened the door and just as I walked in she flipped on the light and all of a sudden about 25 people yelled "surprise!"

My sneaky boss, sneaky mom, and sneaky co-workers set up a bridal shower for me

I couldn't believe it! I wasn't really expecting to get a shower because we're not doing bridesmaids/groomsmen for the wedding...just us and the chaplain are the "wedding party". Plus I have everything I need for the house so we're not even registered anywhere. (I even put no gift expected on the invitations).

Well it was a great time We had lots and lots of food...shrimp cocktail, lasagna, fruit salad....a whole smorgasboard of food. And for desert there were 2 cakes...chocolate/choclate rum and peach amaretto (those were from the big boss). We also played a few fun games and there were prizes...my mom won 2 of them

Then it was gift time....needless to say I am stocked on bath gels, bubble bath, and shower poofs for a long time to come. I also got several Target gift cards, cash and a few cards for Bed Bath & Beyond. So Alex and I have some serious shopping to do The cash will go toward spending $$ for the honeymoon. At the end it was time to load of the car and head home...where my sneaky fiance Alex was waiting....he helped mom get addresses for people Someone collected all the balloons and put them in my office so I have 50 balloons on the ceiling in my office....I hope they are still floating on Monday I ended up bringing home 6 bankers boxes worth of stuff and food on top of that.....I am dining on leftover shrimp cocktail as I type this

So between Alex's bday party last week and bridal shower this week, I am set on food til the wedding

So this has been a great weekend Now I get to figure out where I am gonna put everything.....my dining room has stuff all over the place

Yes it definitely made me re-think alot of things. Some days I get burned out when people are whining and not thinking for themselves when it comes to office matters, but outside of work people are a totally different personality. It's nice to see that other pesonality. One of the girls came even though she had a dog at home she loved that is dying....its to the point where it could be anytime, and she still took time out for the shower

I did ask if I was still gonna get overtime pay for coming in. My supervisor laughed and said she was afraid I was gonna end up saying that
