Once Uppon a Time In Mexico : Movie Review

Greetings All,

this weeks movie review is "Once Uppon a Time in Mexico" also knows as Desperados 2. it stars Cheech Marin, Antonios Bandaras, Enrique englasias & Johnny depp.

The saga of the mythic guitar-slinging hero, El Mariachi (Banderas), continues in Robert Rodriguez’s bravura action epic Once Upon a Time in Mexico.

The new adventure is set against a backdrop of revolution and greed. Haunted and scarred by tragedy, El Mariachi has retreated into a life of isolation. He is forced out of hiding when Sands (Depp), a corrupt CIA agent, recruits the reclusive hero to sabotage an assassination plot against the president of Mexico, which has been conceived by the evil cartel kingpin Barillo (Dafoe). But El Mariachi also has his own reasons for returning – blood and revenge.

The desperado returns with his two trusted sidekicks Lorenzo (Iglesias) and Fideo (Leonardi). And the legend of El Mariachi reaches new levels of excitement and adventure.

aprox running time 100 mins
Rated R for Graphic Violence and Language

I give it 3 1/2 stars out of 4

I'm actually going to have to disagree, i think this is more like a 2 stars, itjust wasn't anywhere close to the quality of Desperado. this one had lots of loops and wasn't really hard to keep with but didn't seem to flow right. i liked it, but i was somewhat dissappointed, as were my brother and girlfriend

on its own, it was ok. but compared to desperado, it stunk.there was a lot of big name actors, and the story wasnt nearly as good. i mean, it was entertaining to an extent, but el mariachi wasnt even a huge factor in this movie like he was in desperado, and the only other high point was johnny depp's comedy, just like in pirates of the caribbean. i think the biggest let down was that selma hayek was only in flashback scenes. and i understand that el mariachi needs new hombres since his buddies died in the first one, but they could have had cooler guitar weapons. you cant beat twin chaingun guitars and a rocket launcher guitar.
