Finished: My 1st gen Mazda MX-5 (pics)

I built this kit from Tamiya Eunos Roadster kit to present my own '92 Mazda MX-5. I had to convert the dash from RHD to LHD, because Eunos Roadster kit comes only with a RHD dashboard. Rear reg plate recess was converted to Euro type. Other than that no big modifications were made, just some basic detailing and stuff here and there. Wheels were painted in Alclad 2 aluminum to make them look like clear coated silver paint. The body was painted with Mazda Classic Red touch up paint. Reg plates were drawn with PSP and printed with laser printer.

1:1 and 1:24 scale cars in same picture (you can barely see the model on the bootlid ) :

As you can see, I didn't make the mudguards (or whatever you want to call those things on the wheel arches) because that would have been too much of a job and they are quite ugly too.

Day time running lights in the radiator opening were made from scratch.

Chassis braces were added behind the engine and on the rear suspension.

The massive brake disks were painted in Humbrol Metal Cote steel.

Interior was detailed with a couple of SMS etched bolt heads on the boot top cover and baking soda was used to make a correct carpet texture to the floor.

(The pictures are hosted at my own webspace, so if there's a problem with them try looking them directly from my homepage)

BTW...you said u used baking soda right? what was your method? did you have to glue the baking soda first? if so, what glue did you use?
