Sainz and Loeb for Citroen in 04

Sainz will be Loeb's teammate in 2004
Citroën decided not to renew McRae's contract [12/09/03 - 20:50]

Sainz and Loeb will be teammates in 2004.
n mid-July, Citroën decided to renew Sebastien Loeb's contract until the end of the 2005 season. The partnership between Citroën and Loeb has been excellent so it was only normal to see him continue with the French team in the future.

The changes made to the regulations by the FIA forced Citroën to choose only one driver between McRae and Sainz to stay in the team as Loeb's teammate. It was a difficult choice for Guy Frequelin, since both men adapted well to the team, helping in the development of the Xsara, notably on gravel.

After a long and careful analysis of the situation, Guy Frequelin decided to keep Carlos Sainz in the team, meaning that Colin McRae's contract has not been renewed.

"I have to admit that it was one of the most difficult decision in my career as a Team Director. There was never any doubt over the qualities of Colin and Carlos, which are real 'stars' in rally and indisputably excellent drivers with impressive track records. In an ideal world, we would have liked to keep both of them in the team with Seb but we had to choose. I want to emphasize on Colin's performance and high motivation, which contributed to Citroën's great results so far."

I just wonder where Colin might be headed for the 04 season. He still has a lot in him and he could have the good days like 98 back if he tried harder.

Maybe Subaru will decide they want him back.

Unlikely, Subaru have their driver line-up for 2004/2005.
Not to mention that McRash's agent/Dad tried to sell him to Subaru for 2004 and they didn't bite.
