1997 88 Royale Keyless Entry Programning

I recently received my parents 1997 Old 88 Royale,(40K miles) however the keyless entry FOB's no longer work. I have replaced the batteries on each of them and they still don't work. After searching on ebay I have located two of them for mere pennies compaired to the dealer prices. Any way all the numbers match with exception of the GM/UTA Number. Will this make a difference and if not, can I program them myself without having to pay a dealer high dollar to do so? Thanks so much. Blonde in Ohio in need assistance.

Try this

I have a '96 - 88 and i used the procedure for the buick lesabre. It is posted in the buick lesabre forum on this web site. Like you I did not want to be ripped off by my local Dan Hemm GM dealer. They wanted $90 or so for the new remote and programing.
