CAR magazine article . . .
There is a very nice compara between the Gallardo, 360 Stradale, and 911 Turbo in the new CAR mag. I don't think I need to tell you who wins do I
The simply said the car offers the best of both worlds. Check it out. |

Personally I never understood the point in comparing the Modena to the 996 Turbo. Comparing the Stradale to the Gallardo is even worse IMO.

I just don't think it's fair to compare a 4WD twin-turbo 3.6 to a RWD NA 3.6
: The Gallardo too with 4WD and huge 5.0 liter V10 engine... it's just too much advantage. IMO the only real competition should be the 996 GT3 and GT3 RS.

Re: CAR magazine article . . .
in my opinion
just lets not talk about prices here . i think they should compare the Carrera GT V10 engine with the Gallardo V10 engine and including is Viper GTS v10 engine as well That would be a good mix between german, italian and american . |

well... as for Viper GTS vs Gallardo, we couldn't see how an american engine compares to the italian.. simply bacause the GTS engine IS mostly italian - it was built by Lamborghini engineers in the time that Chrysler owned the brand. As for the Porsche comparison... well, the Gallardo sells around $170k .. and the Carrera GT sells around $450k ... need I say more? I know you're trying to leave prices out of this... but there's limits in comparisons!

It ain't gonna happen kid
Carrera GT > Gallardo: 5733cc > 4961cc 1380kg > 1470kg 612bhp > 500bhp 435lb-ft > 376lb-ft |

comparisons
Yeah, the V10 idea is interesting but the outcomes are pretty predictable. As for the 360 v. 996TT v. Gallardo v. Ford Gt, it's not a matter of horsepower, but more of price and overall performance.
THe fastest of the four is the GT at 0-60 3.8, the slowest the Ferrari at 4.3 secs. A good difference but the ferrari is one of the top with handling (anyone find any good articles that say whether the ferrari handling beats the gallardo?). It boils down to what you value most. |

Well according to Clarkson, it handles like a big Lotus Elise. I can't say either way but if this is true than the car handles like a gem. Not too many cars will out handle an Elise . . . period.
As far as the Carrera GT vs. Gallardo vs. Viper, I will leave you with a quote from Car magazine referring to the Carrera GT . . . "We,ve heard independent rumours that it can see off Ferrari's Enzo despite having less bhp and more weight." That means that in a straight line the Mclaren, Konigsegg, and Zonda may have the only chance off the line. Last edited by raven1822; 12-04-2003 at 05:48 AM. |

Really? I haven't seen many straight line tests of the Gallardo, but I know several things:
The gallardo's 0-60 is marked at 4.0 secs by several tests The Enzo's 0-60 is marked as 3.3-3.5 secs by many tests Tha Murcielago is slower off the line than the Enzo and there is no way that the "baby Lambo" (despite its strengths) is going to be beating its big brother. |

Just for clarification the quote from CAR magazine is referring to the Carrera GT and not Gallardo. I am sure an Enzo will destroy a Gallardo in pretty much any test. I posted in response to the idea of a Gallardo v. Carrera GT v Viper test. No match the Carrera will lay waste to all other V10's
