Speed53?

Does anybody have any info about this Speed53 outfit? They seem to be selling a US-legal Skyline on ebay and claim to be premier importers of Skylines. Their website (speed53.com) has no info though. Could we finally have an alternative to MotoRex?

Judging by the quality of their website, I'd say they are another wannabe company that thinks they can import cars. They don't even show up on the Federal Government's list of approved importers.

Yeah, it does seem a bit shady. But, I read through all the posts in their little forum thing (the only part of the site that actually works) and the Speed53 guy mentioned something about "Our RI can only legalize...." So they're not the RI--they're contracting the work out like RBmotoring does with MotoRex. So, curious and skeptical person that I am, I sent the following email to these people:

Dear Sir,

I was wondering which registered importer does the legalization for your Skylines. As well, what sort of prices does your RI charge? I've been searching for an alternative to MotoRex's ridiculous prices for quite some time now, so I must say I was rather excited to find your site!

and here's the shady response I got (albeit promptly):


Hi Justin, Thanks for your intrest. Any R.I. info is private info. WE cannot disclose any info. due to competition. We can insure you that he can you purchase will be legal. Hit us back. speed53.com

so make of that what you will. seems a bit shady to me.
