Unhappy Rowan Atkinson's F1 crash pic! Disturbing image!

Today I was surfing the web and came across this pic. It looks to me like Rowan Atkinson doing some kind of goofy dance next to a wrecked F1. Notice the backround and the lights on the F1, it could be modified. It also looks like the F1 shown here is purple, and I've heard that Atkinson's chassis #61 is (or was) black. Maybe it's just some weird guy doing a goofy dance, and someone used photoshop or something to put in that pic of the F1 next to him. Anybody know if he got his repaired or not?

BLU CIVIC- "Mr. Bean" is a character played by the actor Rowan Atkinson

McLaren Guy - Rowan's F1 was Burgundy - not certain on the chassis number at the moment, but I believe I have it documented somewhere at home.

That picture was photoshopped together with the background being added and the goofy "Mr. Bean" image tossed in for humor. Rowan is actually a big fan of automobiles - having several old Aston Martins and other noteworthy cars I'm sure. He bought the F1 to celebrate the worldwide success of the movie "Mr. Bean".

His car was only slightly damaged in the rear end accident with an Austin Metro. It looks much worse than it really was. The car was repaired by the factory and as far as I am aware, he is still the owner of that car.

EDIT: I just confirmed that Rowan's F1 is chassis #61.

061 1997, 49th car built, Dark Burgundy

I think you are mistaken with your info on his car being black.

I found some info on the crash! Atkinson got rear-ended by an old lady on the A6 near the town of Lancaster, opposite a restaurant called "El Nido's"! The crash actually was in the town's newspaper! Heres a quote from him on his F1:

"Smaller then you realize and but plenty of space inside, crashed mine into a Metro (yes I did say a Metro), was in the papers and was all very embarrassing, good protection for those unfortunate enough to have a prang in them although I don't recommend it.

The dealers, although very polite do tend to dictate to you how to use the car and even make you do a drivers course before they sell it to you.

The car is fun to drive and really can be used as often as you like, like to take it into London, just for the sheer hell of it and children are always tugging on their parents coats to get closer to take a look.

Performance wise it is really unbelievable, more power then you will ever realistically need, have taken mine to Europe many a time to do 200mph+ on the autobahns, if you can afford one then get one, if not then you can always dream........."

I also heard that he was racing it at the Goodwood Festival of Speed a few years back. Seems like Rowan is a bit of a car fanatic!

Rowan WAS NOT rear ended - he was the one who did the rear ending. The accident was completely his fault.

Also, I know where you got that quoted text, and there is no confirmation that it was truly written by Rowan Atkinson. The text is written more in the style of what you might expect from Mr. Bean. My belief is that it is a complete spoof written by someone who pulled details from the papers that covered the accident. The real Rowan Atkinson has been a past contributor to the British magazine "CAR" and his articles are very well written.

Proving once again - "Don't believe everything you read on the internet."

How much would a crash like that picture cost to repair??
Would it be as "good as new" after the repair?or will they leave bent parts and scratches on the areas that aren't visible.
and who would pay for the repairs? The other car's insurance? I can only imagine it would cost around $100,000!!

Atkinson supposedly said that crashing his F1 cost as much as buying a new ferrari would cost. At least $100000 and probably more!!!

He just made a mistake on his closing speed coming off the motorway on a sliproad. He went into the back of it but because the front is so low and the rear of the Metro he collided with isn't, it kinda ended up parked underneath. I believe it cost about £100,000 to repair. Makes a change from crashing one of his Astons I guess...
