Question 200 GP a/c compressor won't engauge

Hello, new here and thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer.
I have a 2000 Grand Prix GT 4 door that has 15,000 miles and went out of warranty 3 weeks ago. Just in case, it's 3.8-II.
The air quit suddenly and completely last week. It blows on all speeds but the clutch won't kick in. The light on the control comes on when it's on max cool and if it's on reg cool, I can press the button and the light comes on as normal. The fan blows as normal on all speeds.I have checked every fuse and relay I could find and found nothing. I disconnected the battery and waited a few mins. and reconnected it. No help there. I had a fellow put a OBDII tester on it and it showed no codes.
Just to see if the clutch was ok, I momentarily hot wired the clutch and it kicks in and cools fine.
Has anyone run across this before and perhaps could share what they found?
Thanks again.

Well, since this appears to have been a stumper to everyone, I thought it would be good to let you know what was wrong.
This is a common problem in the wiring harness at least on the 2000 model. When GM routed the wiring harness down the back side of the radiator support on the drivers side and looped it back up the transmission. At the bottom of that loop, they had the AC pressure sensor tee'd off. The harness has corrigated loom everywhere except where it has the tee. At the point where the T is, it lays against the AC acumulator. It will rub through the tape and the wires. The tech said he had 20 or 30 that came in for my problem and for trasmission trouble and found this to be the trouble spot. If anyone has one, I would suggest adding a piece of corrigated loom at that point.
GM did the repair as a "Good Will" warranty because the car has 15,000 miles and was out of the 36 warranty about a week when this happened.
