tech help needed
Ok, so i'm having some trouble with my Jeep. 1998 wrangler sport, auto tranny. Starting last night... whenever i accelerate faster than a grandma would, the car bounces and acts as if it's stalling out... electrical stuff flickers... it's fine once i'm up to speed, but until about 25 mph i have to be really easy on the pedal. i think something's either slipping in my rear differential or the transmission's messed up. any ideas?

accelerating troubles
I wouldn't think that your transmition or rear end would cause your lights to flicker. Granted I don't know a lot about what your vehicle is doing but what comes to my mind first is that you have an electrical problem or powertrain management (wich is electrical as well). You might check your ECM.
Hope this helps if not let me know more about what your Jeep is doing and I will try to see what else comes to mind on it. Good Luck Will www.allautoengines.com [email protected] |

Make sure the battery post connections are tight. Also tighten the ground stud on the pass. side of the block.

Have you done any modifications to your TJ? I.e. body lift, suspension lift or added off road tires. Look underneath your TJ on the driver side in between the frame rails. You'll see a group of cable lines ( I belive two or three possibly more"?"). All of those cables should be securely fasten to a clip mounted on the underside of the tub. Check to see if any of them have come loose. I also have a 98 TJ Auto and for an April Fools joke last year my uncle pop one of the cables. The way your discribing your problem is similar to what mine was doing with one of the loose cables.
Please post if you solve your problem. |
