Eibach Sportsline/Pro Kit
Hey guys.. haven't been here for a while.. I got a new question for you.
I put I/H/E in my '03 Civic EX and it's lookin and feelin great. I was considering dropping it a bit, but I've been looking into all the types of ways to do so. Has anyone used the Eibach's Sportline or Pro Kit? What is the major differences of each? Also, what other stuff would I need in order to "safely and efficiently" lower my car and make it handle better? I would assume a camber kit.. but anything else? Brand names would be appreciated, let me know what you think. Thanks! |

Me and friends both agree that the sportlines just plain SUCK!!!!! I notice that after a 6 months the springs sunk down more then normal. They say that the spring woulld naturally sink down only about .3 of an inch. Well as you can guess they were wrong!!!!!! It seems that if you want a good spring then go for H&R or Neuspeed both German and both excllent. May I suggest Ground Control. Yes Yes I know that GC use an ebiach springs but in this case they are great. It's not you true Coil Over but it cost the same as a Lowering Springs. As for the prokit just get the GC. The benefit of using Gc is that you can lower it to your disire and unlike spring you suck with the hight that you pick.

I have the Pro-kit on my car & think its an exellent ride/handling with the KYB AGX shocks. You should upgrade your shocks/struts when lowering, a camber may be needed when dropping more than 2". H&R also makes nice springs - Cup kit is something to look into(matched spring/shock combo) - check out www.tirerack.com & plug your car in to see all suspension & other parts available. Good tires & a rear sway upgrade will help you get more from the suspension. Actually it depends, some people lower because they think it looks cool while others do it for performance reasons. |

I'm definitely doing it just for performance, but of course, it does look cool.
I checked into that Cup kit and its like $600.. not bad for shock/spring combo, but I'm not sure if I am going to get struts or not. My friends say they aren't needed, since my car is barely a year old. I've read the post in the performance FAQs about it, but what is the opinion about my new car? Shouldn't the struts be OK to use for now? Also, the cup kit lowers it 2" in the front and 1.75" in the rear for my car. Now, would that mean that I would only need camber adjustments for the front; or would it be best to get the rear as well? Thanks! |

If my car was brand new & only had 2 miles on it, I would replace the struts/shocks if upgrading the springs. Have front struts been replaced yet due to leaking or popping? That is a very common problem with the newer civic's. If you add lowering springs you loose the warranty on both springs(no shit) & the struts because they are used with lowering springs. So your gonna have to pay to replace them anyways.
Wait til you lower the car & have it aligned - then you will know if a camber kit is really needed. |
