what made you buy gm?

Why did you buy a silverado verses a f-150 or Dodge Ram? Would you ever buy a Ford or Dodge truck?

I carry the GM Mastercard. For every $100 I charge, I receive $5 towards a new GM vehicle. That's equivalent to GM paying me 5 percent interest. The GM Mastercard paid me $1500 when I purchased my 1999 Silverado and I have another $1500 accumulated now. Since I pay off my balance every month, that's free money. IMHO, the Silverado is no better and no worse than a Ford or a Dodge. They are all reasonably good vehicles that will get you from point a to point b.

mjrodney:

If your truck is a "point-a-to-point-b" vehicle," why did you decide on a full-sized pickup?

Well, I chose a full size truck for a number of reasons, actually.

I live in Florida on the coastline, so the ability to easily load and unload up to 3 kayaks was important to me. No overhead lifting required.

Same with bicycles.

Probably the biggest reason why I chose a full size truck though, would have to be the fact that I commute 75 miles a day on our own version of the "Indianapolis Speedway", our Interstate 75.

During the morning and evening rush hour, the crazy ones appear and frankly, I just feel safer with all that metal around me. I pay the price in fuel, but I'm up high where I can see 'em coming!

I bought my 99 Silverado the first year that that generation came out for several reasons. First, I've been a GM guy all my life and wanted a full size PU. I might have gone GMC, but my Chevy salesman was honest and straightforward with me (no haggling, no trips to his boss, etc). Second, the Silverado got rave reviews from Motor Trend, Automobile and Auto Week (maybe more, but that's all I subscribe to). Third, in 1999, the F-150 and the Ram were more into exterior gimmicks, while the Silverado stuck to the basics and made improvements where it mattered (suspension, HP, torque, tradition). That's why I bought a Silverado. By the way, after I bought it, I took out a GM Master Card and used the $1000 credit toward a 2004 Vette. Note: I kept my Silverado since I still love it. My biggest problem each day is deciding which to drive (I know, I know, life's a b****).

My parents got one because they've been buying Chevy's ever since they moved here to the U.S. Really liked the quality, looks, power, etc. They just thought it was a great truck.

the reason i bought a chevy was cuz i liked both the exterior and interior looks and the ride is like driving a caddy but will still handle a load. I don't like the looks of the ford at all and as for dodge, i think they have a better exterior look but the interior is just so plain it make you wonder about spending 30k for it.

I've grown up Having a Driveway full of GM's, My first Truck was a 79' Custom Deluxe 1/2 ton Pickup(still have), My dad bought it new and I purchased it from him while I was in High School, I would never buy a dodge, My uncle has gone through 2 and both transmissions were shit. My 79' has over 300k on the body and frame, both engine and trans. were swapped around 200k. all its used for now is hauling and work related tasks, My z71 is the baby .. as long as the other truck is still running my Silverado simply hauls my quad and camping gear around. I think the Superduty Fords are nice as long as your using them for work, My buddy owns a 99' F250 Lariat and he complains that its uncomfortable all the time.

well i have an 02 silverado.. my mom has an 02 F 150.. and there is simply no comparison.. my truck rides better drives better has more power/ torque. her ford feels fake and i just dont like that feeling.. my truck handles better and looks better.. theres simply no comparison in my opinion.. my dad had a 99 ram.. it was a nice truck dont get me wrong but its nt as comfortable or powerful as my silverado ive also ridin in a 02 ram.. and felt the same way also seen that truck on the dyno and it was sick.. litterally.. i love my silverado..

Re: what made you buy gm?

Personally i chose a Chevy over a Ford because Fords are pieces of sh*t. And lots of my friends have Dodges and they break down too easily, and there always seems to be something wrong with them. That's why im a proud owner of a Chevy!
