Taking on Water????

Hi, I am entering this question in for a friend. She has a 2000 Volkswagen Passat Wagon. When it rains out she can end up with 3+" of water in the rear seat floor. There are no visable signs of where the water may be coming in. Does anyone have any experience with this type of problem with this car? Please let me know where I should start looking.

If the car has a suroof, the drain lines can be clogged and the water is draining inside your car.

Hello -

I am having the same problem with my car and have taken it back to VW - 4 X to be repaired.

First - they said it was a sunroof leak. Then they said it was a pollen filter leak. I have to take the car back in because the leaks are beginning to affect the wiring - and some of the internal buttons are no longer working.

Would greatly like to hear the latest update on your friend's car.

I'm extremely frustrated as VW continues to charge me for the repairs.

I posted elsewhere, but I am also frustrated how all these non-warranty items suddenly spring up when there's a problem. My stance is if the owner's manual and no other paper work I was given said "clean the sunroof drains", and the warranty's exceptions did not include "failure to clean the sunroof drains" or anything of the same meaning, then this HAS to be a warranty item.

And I've noticed that they stop listening to you once you say your problem. Like they don't care enough to find out where the leak is coming from. They've come to a conclusion after the first 5 seconds. If they're wrong, then you have to spend another 4 hours of another day bringing it back. And if that 2nd conclusion on the 2nd day is also wrong, then rinse, repeat, etc.
