94 civic cv boot

is replacing this a tough job? I think some hondas are difficult to remove the front hub, or something like that. This time I would like to replace the boot the correct way.

About 10000 miles ago, i replaced the other boot with a split boot. It is still holding up fine. I still may go this route. I am not sure. Anyone have any split boot stories?

The only reason some Hondas are hard to remove the hub on is because some moron put lock-tight on it...or at least that happened to me once. But if the hub is not rusted, just get a good-size breaker bar, and you should be ok. Some times the ball joint isn't real easy to break loose though, but, it can be done using a hammer to knock it loose.

As for replacing the boot, once you have the axle out, replace both boots on the axle. You will need to take apart the joints (just pay attention on how it comes apart), get out the old grease, and put the new stuff in.

In my experience, split boots CAN throw grease all over even when put together properly. I'm not saying that they all do, just one I have used did that. Split boots aren't made to fit any particular car, or they will fit a broad range of cars, like a 90-2000 civic, which means that they aren't an exact fit, which might give you problems. IMO, do it right the first time and take out the axle.
