Question 240sRock

A few questions about our favorite car:

I was under the impression that the 180SX was the hatchback version of the 240 until my buddy got a hatchie 240 ('93). So is the 180 the hatchback version of the S14? Was the the 180 JDM only?

Granted, I'm not really an engine guy, but how do the accelerator and brake in the 240 (LHD) attach to a JDM SR20DET (RHD)? Is it a tranny thing? Also, are we limited to the '93 SR20DET in this '93 240?

Lastly, I loathe eBay. Any good leads on Silvia badges?

the throttle body is on the same side for both SR and KA so i assume the SR would link right up to the KA thottle wire.

Check the FAQ.

Dont buy Silvia badges.

Whatever, if you want to get silvia badges, get them. Mine were given to me, I wouldnt buy them, but I think it looks fine. Plus when some idiot see's my car, and likes it, they will go try to find a "silvia" for sale around town, and wont be able to. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

who cares re: the badges? if you want 'em, get 'em. if not, then don't

it's his money guys, who cares?

180SX is a hatchback version of the S13 Silvia. hatchback 240SX's are technically 180SX body's with different engines. S13, not S14. there was no S14 180SX. the 180SX was sold in Japan until 1997, but was still S13. 180SX was ONLY sold in Japan.

pedals in America are in the same order as the ones in Japan. left = clutch, middle = brake, right = accelerator.

If you live in Canada, you can import a real 180sx (88) for an avg price of $7000-$13000.And on a RHD car,the manual gearboxes are configured the same.

That's pretty expensive. I can get one here for about half that.

As for the Silvia badges, Dayna240 has the right idea, I want people to say " What the heck is a Silvia? That thing is cool." I'm into import tuning because of the originality and rarity of these cars. If I had to drive one of those Cloned Mustangs I think I'd open my veins in the bath (whoa, dramatic). I'd be ordering Soarer emblems if I could afford an SC400. Heck, the gold IS300 in Shitty Street looked good with Altezza badges, IMO.

I'm gonna go kick my own ass now for putting this much thought into badges.

Holy shit that car is hotter than you are!!!!!! lol...jp...

What rims are those?? White is an interesting choice on a black car...

And don't buy and SC400 ryuhito...get an SC300 and swap in a supra engine ...cheaper and faster

"I'm into import tuning because of the originality and rarity of these cars." I hope that's not the only reason...but at least it's better than "because I want to drift..."

My take on the silvia badges on a usdm car: if you can get them cheap and plan to actually make it a silvia engine then why not add the badges...I mean it isn't a 240sx anymore is it? no 2.4L under the hood...but it isn't a silvia either, so just slap on whatever you want

Oh my gosh, I can't begin to contemplate how much it would cost for a new SC300 and a new 2JZ. And some really, really good brakes. lol

Hopefully going to start sanding down the 240 soon. Friend owns an auto paint store so this should be fun. And I'm still leaning towards the Silvia badges, guys. Hey, its better than a "Got Boost?" sticker, right?
