Anyone have pics of the one at Shelton?

I took some pics but I don't have a scanner. Holding the pics of the one at Shelton up next to the pics of the one in London, the one at Shelton is a darker color and the headlights look a little bit different. Maybe it's just my camera, I don't know. I was wondering if the one at Shelton look different in any pics. Anybody got any?

The one at Shelton might be a different color - there were at least three shades of Silver that the F1 was painted, possibly more.

The headlights on the Shelton car are the xenon or HID headlights. They're available now as a refit item and several cars have them.

I think I may have learned today who's car that is that sits at Shelton. I have forwarded the front angle shot to my source to see if he can confirm that the interiors match. He did state that this F1 was "Silver with a Cinnamon interior" which certainly makes the Shelton showroom car a possibility. The one thing that is odd though, is that this owner lives in the Woodside, CA area and I can't imagine him loaning his car out for display at a dealer in Florida.

In either case, I have the name of a previously unknown McLaren F1 owner to add to the master list. I'll release it once I have some more details.

Here are some pics seen on another forum, so don't wait to DL ...

The guy who took the pics said :

"The McLaren F1 is not for sale. The owner of the car has NOT driven it sence it was titeled. He keeps it, and other cars, there because he dosn't have any more room at his house.
He payed $1,000,000 (us) for it and would NOT sell it for $2,000,000 (us)."

I have a garage free in my house to let the car, if he is interested

Great job jkbon!!!

One thing that could confirm the speculation I made earlier of the owner on this car is that "1" decal on the dashboard. The California DMV gives those out as temporary registrations. I'm not sure whether other states would use the same form. Has anyone else ever seen that before outside of CA?

Ahhh, there she is. Thats the first F1 I ever saw in person I've got some info on this car straight from the lady behind the desk at Shelton. When I was there in March 2003, she said it had been sitting there for 4 months. She said it is owned by Mr.Shelton himself. Who is Mr.Shelton? He owns a large string of dealerships in Florida, such as Shelton Ferrari, Shelton Jaguar ( I saw my first Aston there ) etc. From what I saw, he is a professional race car driver because there is a cabinet in the dealership with awards and trophys in it that have his name on it.

Note: I was shocked that the lady behind the counter said this: "It's been sitting there for 4 months and I'm getting bored of it." HOW COULD YOU GET BORED OF AN F1?! I can't believe this! Many big fan's of F1's will never get to see one in their lives and she sees one every day and doesn't even care about it!

I don't know if it helps or not but when I was there, a big muscular guy with a shaved head walked in and all of the staff seemed to recognize him. Once he entered the room, he said "Ahhh, the F1!" and then started a conversation with the workers. Could this have been Mr.Shelton?

Just Got Back From Shelton

And the F1 is gone. The woman behind the desk (fantastic, and super-friendly, by the way) said that it has gone back to its home. I didn't press her for more details.

The lady wasn't so nice to me. I was trying to ask her a question once and she was apparently looking at a magazine or something and she just held up her hand as to say "talk to the hand!". It's bad for Shelton that it's gone, now it won't draw in as much people.

The first woman I spoke with was super-nice and encouraged me to take pictures. She had dark hair. But while I was there a blonde woman took her place and she was anything but nice. Anyway, Shelton was a great place and the people were all great. Highly-recommended for anyone visiting southern Florida.

The owner of the F1 in the Shelton showroom is Jim Clark. He was the co-founder of Netscape Communications. He's also been involved with several other corporations such as Silicon Graphics and WEB MD Corp. He makes his home in Woodside, CA. I'm not certain what his relationship is with Shelton Ferrari, or why he allows them to display his car, but these latest photos have allowed my source to confirm that is indeed his F1.
