I heard Gundam markers will work too, if you mask off the lines.

I get better results with the pen than I do with paint. Before I primer the bodies, I etch the panel lines a little deeper with the backside of my X-acto knife. Then after polishing, I just put the tip of the pin the the grooves and run it back and forth until they're black. When I slip, it wipes right off.

I used to use skinny permanent markers, but it was harder to fix my mistakes.

The pens are a real time saver and the only thing I can add to what jay said is get one that is self cleaning. I bought a refillable one.

I haven't used it in a while and it clogged. Causing me to have to clean it and promptly throw it down the drain.

I think I saw the ones jay was talking about at the local hobby shop. I'll probably try one of those.

I used to use a rapidiograph at work. I had to take it apart all the time.

You don't have to clean my pens.

No kidding I got about half way through and had to clean it again. That's when I felt like dropping it down the drain.
