Question Anorexic/Bulemic Camry

Need a suggestion...
My 1999 Camry won't eat! Even if gas tank is almost empty, fuel backs up filler tube and "vomits" out around gas pump nozzle. I can force feed gas in verrrry slowly if I pause every quart or so. I took the rubber hose loose that connects gas tank to filler tube. No obstruction between cap and tank... Using a small mirror, I could see a little trap door inside the tank, presumably to keep gas from sloshing back on a hill. Dosen't look replaceable. Any fixes short of replacing the tank?

Ummm, not sure if you noticed, but this is the Celica board. You might have more luck asking in the Camry boards.
