Flat Rate + Night Shift = t3h sux0r

So I have a job at a local Subaru dealership workin' 4-midnight, and I'm workin' flat rate, payin' $8 per flat rate hour, only $8 'cause I haven't had any factory training. Anway, let me get to my point. Today I get there at 4, just chillin' for a few min, then I help a tech. with a UVI, do an oil change, and do a PDI. It's about 5:30 now, and the lead Tech. comes up to me and says, "well, that's all the work we got scheduled for today". So we were done at 5:30, I think we got 1-2hours a piece flat rate. I hung around 'till about 8:30, surfin' the net, screwin' around, and then the lead tech. says I can go home. Sounds cool, but it wasn't. Let me break down to you approximately how much I've made each day this week:

Monday: Labour Day
Tuesday: $12
Wednesday: $24
Thursay: $16

And I'm there from 4-midnight every day. Just thought I'd let y'allz in on the beauty of being an "automotive technician" or mechanic as I call it.

Geez, I wish at times I was that hard done by. I get a flat rate too, whether Im sitting at work from 7 to 4, or if Im doing combat courses sitting in the bush all night in the rain hugging an assault rifle. Im not complaining because I chose the job, and I love it. You just need a better perspective of what night shifts can entail.

Security guard? Work? Do tell more.

I work as a blender/inspector in a cheese factory.I lift,by hand, anything up to 35 tons of cheese [in 20 kg blocks] in a 12 hour shift.

but for $260+ a shift,I don't complain.

Its hard work having a government pay your company to pay you to surf the net on night shift learning about lockpicking, safecracking and forgery you know.

Yeah, I can carry my wallet home, it's light as a feather. I'm gettin' paid about half of minimum wage if you average it all out. Workin' 40-45 hours a week, gettin' paid for 12-16hours. I could make more money working part time and Burger King.
