What model head unit? What model car? Did you use a wire harness? What other equipment are you running? If you want help, provide more info.

First thing to check would be the 12V+ wire (yellow). Use a DMM and check to make sure that there is sufficient voltage present at all times (including during cranking).

(D)igital (M)ulti(m)eter. You said you used a wire harness. If that's true, there should have been no guesswork. You match up all the colors.
Yellow = 12V+ battery (constant) Red = 12V+ switched ignition Black = Ground Blue/White = Remote turn-on Blue = Power antenna lead Orange or Orange/White = Illumination Gray = RF + Gray/Black = RF - White = LF + White/Black = LF - Violet = RR + Violet/Black = RR- Green = LR + Green/Black = LR - |

thanks for your help man. yea im kinda a newbie at this and just was trying to figure out what i did wrong. i know i left the power antenna unhooked because i have no power antenna. i just didnt know if i needed to tie in like a yellow wire in with the red, or orange, or whatever. evidentally ive done something thats causing this problem. i guess now my biggest thing i need to do is try taking the radio back out, and then check it out. when i get a little more idea on exacly what i did ill post it. thanks for your help again

Again, check the yellow wire. It shouldn't be tied in with the red. One is constant power to preserve the memory and the other provides power and turns the HU off when the ignition is off.

HA i see where the problem was. (see this was a used harness someone had gave to me off their sony radio which was in their honda) i took it apart and for some reason the had the yellow wire from the cd player connected in with the 2 red...BUT, the weird thing is on the harness, where the yellow wire should be it wasnt there! and u could kinda see where it looked like it got ripped out. So i had to put on my thinking cap and i figured out a solution. first i undid the yellow with the red and put the 2 reds together. then, i got a peice of a wire, crimped it to the end of the yellow wire, and at the other end ran the wire through the harness, into the (factory harness) directly. after firmly closing the harnesses together, i then added some super glue so the wire wouldnt come loose, turned it on, and it works like a champ! i'm not sure if u quite understand what i did, but all i know is i rigged it up and it works! thanks alot for your help man, otherwise i would have probabaly gotten agervated and paid to have it fixed. thanks !
