S-10 V8 conversion

Hey ya'll I'm new here. I've figured it was time to find a better forum.

Well... I've been thinking of a conversion. This isn't for about a year or so, maybe even longer, but I want to know everything I can before I get anything done. I probably won't have the time to do it myself, and I'm wondering about places that can do it.

What I want is an LS1 engine conversion. I've come across Lee's High Tech Trucks in Florida >Lee's High Tech Trucks , and I'm just wondering if anybody knows of any other places...

I'm looking at around 6000 from them, and I'll still have to swap suspension and everything. They seem to be a good no-bull type of place. And they are known, so I'm guessing they've got to be. They can do the swap in about two weeks... so - any others?

.

They look as good as about anyone else thats going to do it. If you really want to swap an ls1 in then have them do it.

After recently installing headers on the 4.3L V6 I really want to know how the hell are you going to be able to do that with a 350 V8 in a S-10? The 4.3 is so f-ing crammed in there it looks like it would be impossible to put headers on a 5.7L in that engine bay.

uhmm... it will fit quite well actually. i think theres a need to pound the firewall a tad bit. and actually the LS1 is a 5.3 motor not a 5.7

They don't modify the firewall, I heard, and they fabricate their own custom headers... so I dunno

I think I'm pretty much decided on an LS1 lol

Planned swap and changes: Corvette LS1, cammed, lowered, Baer brakes, lowered suspension, camber kit, Centerline wheels, (maybe a hydramatic 5-speed ) and all that other good stuff... IF I don't decide to get a muscle car in a few years...

Re: S-10 V8 conversion

That link looks good, however, I did notice the one picture shows the radiator inside the rad support with a hole cut for the cap. This is not neccesary if you use a short shaft water pump instead of a long shaft one. You can gain an 1" or 2", enough to mount the rad in the proper spot.
