what state? technically you should not be over the legal levels things in your exhaust, afterall it is a stock honda engine but it may not pass visual necesarily. if you dont? find someone you can pay off.

It's ohio, im pretty sure their kinda strict about it. Well arent there no smog regulations in japan or something like that, and thats why they put out more power?

I believe japan is much stricter about emmisions actually but that would be things like the catalytic converter and not actual engine parts that would be changed anyway. the actual engines are basically the same (emissions wise)

Well then why do they put out 70 more hp?

Horsepower is measured differently in the US than it is in Japan. Not sure how they build them that they are different, but that is basic reason JDM motors have slightly more HP than USDM motors.
I'm sure the motors are tweaked differently for their version of the same standards that ours are, but because HP is measured differently, one comes out with slightly more than the other. I could be wrong though.

where did you get 70 from? its 10 and it has slightly higher compression (10.6:1 compared to 10:1) and there are just minor differences like the header is less restrictive. basically they are the same engine though.

Well if we are gonna go into technicalities, i said i was swapping in an h22, so, a stock f22 to an h22 would be a 70 hp gain.

but you asked why they put out 70 more HP and the reason is because of the H not because it is from japan

its a motor designed more for high performance instead of a family sedan. It has a higher compression ratio and dual cams instead of singel cams and it has vtec on both cams. basically its a a more tuned up motor. I guarentee you'll enjoy it though

werd thats the basic explanation. I thought you meant usdm h22 compared to jdm h22 in which the differences are basically negligeable.
