I have a 98 intrique and every once in a while the stupid thing just will not start and the security light blinks. its enough to drive you nut and the gas gage some how has spun all the way around and is resting on the full post. If any one knows how to solve eather problem please let me know( I am going nuts trying to fix it)

To fix the security light, first thing is to pull the codes from the PCM and the BCM to start diagnostics. Most likely you are going to need to see the dealer for this one.
The fuel gage is most likely a sending unit. The sending units in these vehicles have a coating on them that wears off and causes gage fluxuations

gumper- did you come up with a solution... I'm having the same problem and from everthing I have seen and read, I think I need a new ignition switch.

The gas gauge on my old 97 Malibu did the same thing. It always happened when power was removed from the vehicle (i.e. taking out the battery). I always fixed it by unbending a paper clip and sticking it though the hole where the trip restet stick thing is, then twisting the clip so that it forces the needle back around. I'm not sure if the Intrigues have those holes (my Alero doesnt, its just a button on the dash). Try that if you can.
