Interior Mod~ Neons!

Hey guys, Im 16, just got my first car- a 2001 black firebird w/v6 engine... bein 16 i am completely broke except when i get my measley paycheck every2 weeks...recently ive been blowing it on fun yet inexpensive interior light mods...i got a few neons and some glow wire and have it all set up for a really neat look..my friend and I went out to pepboys and got some switches and inline fuse box's for a little switch job we wanted to do in our cars (he has an acura integra LS) yea screw importsLoL..anyway, has anyone had any experience with hooking stuff up to the fuse box...the switch i have actually fits perfectly into the cig-lighter and if i can figure out how to take away teh electrical current i think that the cig-lighter would be the coolest housing for my new switch...but i need to know how to disable the electrical flow to it in order to prevent fire and what not...any ideas?!

[email protected] if you have some really good advice!

Thanks guys
-Hawk

Well, to do what you're wanting to do, pull the upper console. Two 7 mm bolts under the change tray inside the console. Remove shift knob, then pull it up and you'll see a wire going to the ashtray lightbulb. Twist and remove that. Then the plug going to the cigarette lighter is just a straight pull out.

Technical info aside... neon =

About 3 hours ago i completed installation of my 4th neon tube LOL, i have them all wired to a single block that gets it energy from the cig lighter (i just cut the wire and stripped it to use the ends) and that is hooked up to a red LED switch... the whole inside of the car is red and the beams pulse perfectly with the bass after much adjustment of the sensitivity knobs.

the neons inside this car are tight, and who gives a damn if ricers use neons. Neons are Neons and Cars are Cars. if it looks cool WHY not?! oh n btw if anyone is looking to buy some Neons, between the 15 inch and 10inch, the 10 actually has more inches of NEON TUBE so get that ones, and its a buck cheaper =-\ yea whatever...

I'll post pics of the neons and you can decide for yourself i suppose :-D

I think that was their point, they're not. Post pics and maybe that'll convince them otherwise...

Re: Interior Mod~ Neons!

God bless america, thats why we all can do whatever WE want to OUR cars. If you like neon or bumper stickers ( i hate them both but oh well) Put them on. ITs your car do what you want to do to it.

I don't think it would look too bad on the outside..........but I'd have to see it to be sure.......don't think I've ever seen an f-body w/ neon underlights.

I've got several people in one of my clubs that have underbody neons and police strobes on their cars. Some cars look good, others don't...

I wouldn't mind having a set of police strobes on my car, could be interesting

Nope, the actual flashing lights that are in the headlights and taillights. They got them from a guy in the club who has a friend that's an officer in Missouri. Got them for about $300 for a set, and all installed them themselves. When on, they go off in the different sequences common to police cars. Sure would be nice to have those in traffic and get some people to move over...
