Sketching Competition #2

Okay, I will run this one, if ya don't mind (if you do, PM me, we can delete it). Here is how I will run it.

I will give you a topic (cartoon, standard, concept) and you have 25 minutes to draw it. But, i will only give you the topic on Saturday at 2, therefore, if you post past 2:30 with your entry, it will be disallowed (I will give some leeway). For now, all I will give you is the style, but not the actual car that you will need to draw. I will judge all of the entries at 2 o'clock ET Saturday the 6th. Now all I need is people entering, then we can get this going. PM me if you have questions about what to do, or if you have any comments/complaints. For now, if you want to participate, then just post saying "I'm in" etc. You will be judged on 20 points. 10, keeping with the subject (ie, how you used the picture/style to draw your sketch), 10 on execution (does it look like crap? cluttered? clean, nice?). Oh yes, NO EDITING ON ANY ELECTRONIC SOURCE WHATSOEVER (other than resizing and cropping). Cheating is highkly looked down upon and just plain stupid. The winner of this competition will be the judge of the next competition, if there will be one. If you want to be a judge, draw good and draw fast, and get other people to enter so that there will be another comp.

The style will be:

A sketch of the next model of a certain car.

I will only tell you all the actual car on Saturday, this way we can have many people entering, and still have a time limit. I can give you the next Diablo, the next Vette etc, we will have to wait and see at 2 on the 6th for what it'll be. I will also include an uncluttered picture of the current model, which will be the picture from what general angle it should be drawn at. Also a brief description of what you did with the current car and how you changed it. What styling cues/traditions did you use, features etc. This is not necessary, but it gives you a better chance of winning, because I will understand what's going on better. You can use watercolour, graphite, pastel, ANYHING EXCEPT A COMPUTER. If you don't have a scanner, then the only other way to enter is using a digicam. PLEASE EVERYONE ENTER, I will give my own entry as an example at 2, but it will not be included in the comp. Please tell everyone on this forums about this. I know it may seem rather hard to do, it might turn out bad, but then again it might turn out to be great.
Good luck! Even if you suck, enter, it's all for fun!

I'm in.

BTW, who did the Elise in your avatar? I really like it and I want to learn to draw like that. Looks like the same style as the AF logo in the top left hand corner of the page. Do you have bigger pics or something?
Thanks

Sounds like a cool competition but a half hour doesn't seem to be enough time to print out the given picture, make our own design revisions, make the sketch, scan it in, and then put it on the internet. I think maybe an hour, or even two would be more reasonable. And then I'm not sure if only one person being the judge would be a very accurate way of determining who is the best, maybe you should just make a pole of it. Otherwise sweet idea, but i'm not sure if i'll even be able to enter anyway.

A sketch shouldn't take longer than 15 minutes. You don't need to print out any pictures, you know what the car will look like, I can assure you. Just take what you know (what the current car looks like) and draw a quick drawing of the next version and scan it. Takes about half an hour. If the majority of people take longer than 1/2 hour, then I wont care. Just do your best in the alloted time. I don't want to see a half finnished drawing. Just do what you can. pace yourself so that you can finish in time. I will show you an example of what I did in 15 minutes once, just sketching, not rushing. I just have to dig it up and scan it.

Okay folks! I'll be around here at 1:55 with the car you have to sketch. You'll have 1/2 hour to sketch the complete car, scan it and post it. Then you have till 3 to hand in a desciption of what you did. So:

2-Drawing comp commences with the car you have to submit.
2:30-Hand in you final copies of the drawings
3-Hand in your descriptions (optional) and judging will start
3:15 (latest)-Results in. Winner will judge next week's competition. If I'm not around, then the judge wilkl submit the rules etc. You want a fair judging? Win the comp yourself. I judge this one cause it's my birthday today. I'm hitting the big 1-5.

Here it is:

You are all familiar with the Skyline R34, right? Now, draw the R35 Skyline. Here is the 34, your objective is to do an accurate drawing of the 35, in the given time. You have a 1/2 hour. Go. I will also enter, but I will not judge it.

Go!
