Lightbulb Should i get da 78?

I am considering buying a 78 trans am. It has a little sumthing wrong with the idle but besides that should be running strong. i want to replace the interior (its kinda funky) and repaint and decal it.... after the purchase price i could have around $1000-1500 left.... (currently an unemployed student too...) is it worth it?

P.S: What do you think the interior replacments total would be? (Re-doing the seats.... new carpets, headliner, panals, painting the dash etc... all of it)

What engine is in the trans am? Some trans ams have 403 olds motor and others have 400 pontiac. The pontiac is a better start if you want performance. The interior will probably cost you around a grand to redo.

Well I'd suggest to buy it. I'm a student too and I bought a 68 Bird 2 years ago and I love it. The looks you get and the feeling of driving a classic is very nice.

For the interior price depends if you want to buy everything new or if you're willing to try boneyards for parts.

The Pontiac 400 is a very nice engine.

Unhappy engine/78

Well... on the ci... im not sure but its a 6.6 if you know the math.... yeah its a great car, and the interior, which i just sat in... is actualy still pretty nice. BUT..... even though i love the car and REALY wanna paint it and put a new bird decal on it.... i think im gonna have to pass it by because it would consume alot of my life... cause of its impracticality and cost.... i have a jeep now and since winter is coming im gonna go up to the snow alot (3 hrs)... surfing... (45-1 1/2 hrs) and moutain biking.... so.... i guess i cant have everything right?.....

o-well

I am just finishing up my 79's floorboards and after that I am getting the interior. Well after carpet, seats, headliner, shifter, gauges, I added almost 1000. But that is using brand new parts from Ames. Can find cheaper with ebay and boneyards. hope this helps.
