Question Non-posting members

Have you ever used the member search function? There are thousand of pages for a single letter, and most of the members seem to have 0 posts. It's totally weird. Why would you register and never post? - Not even once? I just don't get it.

I think all accounts that are not active after 120 days should be deleted unless arrangements are made with Igor

On another board I frequent, accounts which show no activity for a given amount of time are subject to automatic deletion.

It makes sense really and it at least keeps some server space free.....

I like the idea, but what if I go somewhere for more than 120 days and don't post during that time period, not likely, but I wouldn't want to have to make sure I posted every 120 days. I think that there should be something to delete all names with zero posts that have been here longer than 30 days, but not for those who have posted, just not recently

I cant really see what the point of this thread was in the first place. It doesnt really matter in the grand scheme that is Af. Or Life. Which some may say is intertwined.

Well, it makes that many more usernames to sort through in the Member log, it makes all these names come up on their birthdays and then we have to sort through those to find out it's Oz's b-day, and they are using up all the good usernames!!

exactly. I was looking for Primera man to PM him (couldn't remember if there was a space in between or not), and couldn't believe how many pages of "P"s there were. And when I saw that most of them had never posted, or maybe had 1 post, I thought what a waste of time and server space.

And anyway, this is completely off-topic. Who says a thread here needs a real point?

As AF's official AF Newbie I would like to say:

stfu n00b

and in all seriousness- Deletion of inactive people has its upsides and down sides- the upside being 90,000 members makes us look very pimp indeed

:w3rd: :yusuper:

Now Oz is going to come by and say we shouldn't have to check, we should just know.

The good news is that there's an advanced seach link on the top of the membership list. The bad news is it it appears to be one of the features 'on hold' to conserve bandwidth until Igor can afford the new server.

In the meantime, the memberlist is a wasteland.Suggest next time you want to catch up with another member, track down one of his/her posts.Primera Man would be an easy one, just look in the modelling forum,or search for a term that relates to him...

Example!

When you find him,add him to your buddy list....and ask him when he's going to look up his friends in COT...

As for the nil posters,I say ditch them. They're just taking up space, and cutting new members chances of registering the username that they want.

I would really have to agree with this one. I had to disapear for 5 months(deploy) and only had access to the internet on two occasions. And yes even w/ a 12k connection AF took precidence!!
