2004 F-150 wheel choices

sup...I am expecting delivery of my 2004 f-150 SCrew with 275-18's on it and very soon after I would like to upgrade the wheels/tires on it. I have a few questions though...I am pretty sure this truck (stock) will be using the rims currently on the 2003 expedition, but I want to know what side effects will going to either 20" or 22" rims with 295 or 305 tires have on my truck?...will it effect or put undo stress on the 4x4 gearing in any way?, will it harm or put undo stress on the tranny? and will there be any complication with towing a trailer while these rims/tires are on this truck?....I know the standard issues like speedo variance and so forth....but...I'm more concerned with stress on the tranny, suspension, steering, and gearing. Would the 20's be better than the 22's?...what tire/rim combo would be the best?....I am switching for cosmetic purposes (just wanna fill the wheel well up a little more!) only and appreciate any advice!

We haven't a truck in to spec out for fitment so we don't have information on what tires sizes will fit without rubbing.

As for the the stress the 22's or 20's will be put on you drivetrain vs the look that you're trying to achieve we don't have long terrm experience of what effect the heavier wheel have had. Best source for this information is the F150 section of this site or F150 specific sites.

Best set up to minimize strain on the drivetrain and look good, would be 20's with a lowered suspension but you'll have wait for lowering kits to become available.

thanks for the info...have a few more ?'s for ya!...I am now looking at Enkei S5's (22" forged). They are pretty light, would these be a MUCH better wheel (weight and strength wise) than say a Bazo B24 22"? Also, the truck is coming stock with 275/65/18's on it....what size tires can I go with and stay within the recommended size variance?....I am looking at 305/40/22's and 305/45/22's...also what is the max variance in either direction that can be considered safe/equal to stock wheel??...

I'd like to go with the 305/45's....

Don't carry either of these brands so I can't really advise you on them . . . obviously the lighter the better provided you don't sacrifice strength so forged wheels are generally better.


As for tire sizes we haven't had a truck in to check fitment on so can't give you accurate info yet

if you want to put 22" wheel on your car, 305/40 would be the best size for it.
