Unhappy Shifter

A thick towel, vise grips, and two hefty fore arms!

Question Shifter blues?

Well to be honest I had to take a saw and litterally cut mine off of the stick shaft. The glue they use to bond those things is like cement. By the time I was done removeing it it could not be reused. There is a hard plastic thing under the boots leather cover so do not worry about cutting the stick shaft. I was tough and plastic trimmings were all over the car when done, though at last, it was worth it. Took like a half an hour too. -Greg

Thumbs down Shifter

You should only use a razor to cut the leather off of the knob, if you so choose. I am telling you from experience the knob is too thick to cut with a razor you will need some sort of electric jig saw or a manual saw and a hellafied forearm. The razor will just split and cut you. -Greg

87SENTRASE is exactly right, the shift knob on my 01 SE was an absolute bitch. I ended up cutting the rubber off with a hacksaw and then using pliars to get the plastic ball off. When I was done with it it was an ugly mess, but I was replacing the whole shifter anyway so it didn't matter.
