5 Star Shine / Nu Finish

Has anyone tried either of these two products? They both are coming up very high on Internet ratings? The 5 Star Shine sounds awfully good. To good actually so i thought I would see if anyone has tried it.

Also, Nu finish??? any comments?

I've never used 5 star shine or nu finish. However, I don't believe in any product claiming to last 1 year, which nu finish claims. (they say the once a year car polish) I don't care if this would come from Meguiars, 3m, or anyother company. Sure, it might be a geat product, but I don't believe in their claim. Sorry.

Well, ya get what you pay for is a good rule of thumb with detailing products. Nu Finish is very chemical based. In other words it cleans with solvents. Is that good for paint ? I think not. It does leave a decent shine for an all in one, but you should set your standards higher, and use single use/benefit products. Use a clay for claying, a cleaner for cleaning grime and oxidation, and for prepping paint, polish for polishing, and wax or sealant for sealing. Glazes for filling, swirl mark removers for mid level polishing. I have yet to see a sealant last longer than several months, and thats under optimum conditions, i.e., garage, covered...I have heard of 5 star but could not comment on it.....

Hi, actually I love Nu-Finish and although it may not last a whole advertised year it takes about half an hour to wax up a whole car as opposed to claying and the like which takes hours. It (Nu-Finish) gives a VERY nice shine and fools smooth as a babies butt. It is really noticeable after you're done. It actually says on the bottle to apply it TWICE, one more time a month later after first application so in reality it's a twice a year car polish, not sure why they say once a year.

5 Star thoughts and review

I have been interested in the 5 Star Shine stuff and decided to try it since I found a good link that is monitored by someone who works for the company. Many skeptics have written in. In the short amount of time that I've had it on my car it has done what it says.... Time will tell....
here's the link:

Re: 5 Star Shine / Nu Finish

I've used Nu-Finish 5 months ago on my Miata and it still makes the rain drops bead. The only problem I've gotten is white spots on the hood that doesn't come out with regular car wash soap. Nu-Finish is a polish which I believe (I may be wrong) strips a layer of paint, which makes it shine the way it does. I think it's wise to wax the car after you use Nu-Finish to protect the paint. Nu-Finish does last a very long time, it hasn't been a year yet so I can't confirm it but it has made the water bead longer than ANY turtle wax...

Muddy, go with either Meguiars or Mothers 3-step.........Good bang for the buck, and readily available........Cleaners and polishing are the items that will give you color and shine, wax is only there to protect it......

Re: 5 Star Shine / Nu Finish

okay, I've tried lots of waxes. I've tried Nu-Finish both the Paste and Liquid version. The paste gives a good shine, comes off easily if you don't apply too much. It was also rated #2 by Consumer reports couple years ago. Protection is good, and nothing will last one year. For your average person it is a good product.

Re: 5 Star Shine / Nu Finish

However, for the show car fanatic, Nu-Finish will not do justice. Guru Reports tested 46 waxes and is on sale for 9.99 bucks. I just bought it and blown me away. It's definately going to save me money. I was surprised how some waxes rated against each other, so I order Zaino Show car polish. I haven't put it on due to rain yet. But it's suppose to give a great shine and durability. agian, i am obssessed with shine, so if you're not, don't bother, use what Guru recommends on their website.

Anyone Used Amsoil's Car Polish?

Here's another one to add to the survey. There's a couple products that I'd like some feedback on: Car polish and the waterless aerosol spray.

I have been using a paint protection system for 5 years now , i warranty the finish for 10 years after application. It is a far superior product to meguirs or 3m. These products will permanently chemicaly alter the paint right past the base coat and lasts. I could park my car in a congested parking lot (dirty) and the finish still after 2 years sticks out more than other cars in the parking lot , even compared to brand new ones. I have years of research and devoulopment into these products and I gaurantee it will last for many years if takin care of properly. Not available to the general public this product line is called "Pro-Tec Seal"
available only through authorized installers at dealerships or franchised detailing shops. I aint selling these products btw Im just backing it up knowing the results and having confidence in them.

I say use Meguiar's Phase 1 cleaner, and follow up with their new Tech Wax. That stuff looks like it would really set your car apart from all of the others...
