stock for stock

I would definitely go for the gtr to win. the 3000gt vr-4 is a heavy car. And considering the stock horsepower figure on the gtr is usually a gentlemens cap from japan, I'd put it at 300hp stock. so theres not much difference.

Its hard to argue with Nightmare, but are all Skylines this R32 GTR or are there other models? The times I've seen posted for Skylines (could be other models) were also in the upper 13's.

The initial question was comparing the GTO (or 300GT) to the Skyline GTR. Yes there are heaps of other models of Skylines (just have a look here), and mostly the non-GTR models would not be as fast as the equivalent GTR.

he first Skyline GTR was back in 1969, and I would say that a 3000GT would easily beat one of them The recent GTRs are the R32 (1989 -1994), R33 (1995-199?8 or 9), and R34 (now). Each one has a little more power, despite the fact they're all rated at 206 kW. Each one also is a bit heavier, but they all - stock - seem to be around 13 flat or thereabouts for the 1/4

The fastest Skyline in Australia atm is an R33 GTS25t, not a GTR - it's done 10.6 seconds or something. The fastest Skyline in NZ is an R32 GTR with R33 drivetrain - it's done 9.88

see even though all the later R series skylines runs on the same engine and has the same horsepower, their tranny and demensions are different. as each generation progresses the engine gets more torque by adding compression, and in the newest skyline the R34 it has ceramic turbine blades which gives it less turbo lag, add that with the newer and fully computer controled 4WD and 4WS, and a 6 speed getrag transmission with closer ratios, see now you see the different.

Rated at the same horsepower. It's bollocks. The figures I've seen most commonly, are close to 300 hp for the R32, 310 for the R33, and 320 for the R34.

The R34 25GTt (2.5L single turbo) is rated at 206 kW, just as the R34 GTR is. I don't think so, Tim. The Japanese lie about the power of cars like that.

That is soooo true!
I was at AVO (A Turbo specialist workshop in Melbourne Aus) one Saturday and a guy brought in a white R34 GTR (along with the car salesman) to be put on the DYNO before he actually bought it.
Now this R34 only had the exhaust system upgraded and the DYNO registered 204Kw at the wheels! and 236Kw at the engine. Which is equivalent to about 350hp at the wheels and 400hp at the engine.
So I wouldn't take the figure of 206Kw at the engine reported by the manufacturers as gospel.

whoa that is pretty cool then, cause from what i've read from every american magazine that has driven a gt-r says that there is no way in hell that a 3500+ pound car can pull those 0-60 times and keep up with a corvette which is around 400 pounds light with around 70 more hp. soo they all figured that it should be in the 328 hp at the flywheel range.
