Camry 94' rear brake conversion
How is the best way to start a Camry 94 rear brake conversion?
What do I need to do t start to finish this conversion on this old camry? From drum brakes to disc brakes. All in all, I'm trying to stop a little quicker, because of the freaks on the freeway. Advice is GREATLY appreactiated, sorry for my spelling.

Re: Camry 94' rear brake conversion
This is EXACTLY what I want to do as well, only for my 95 I4 coupe. I'm curious as to whether I can simply replace the hub/spindle/brake assembly with matching parts from, say, an V6? Or is there more involved?

Re: Camry 94' rear brake conversion
I'm not up on what's necessary for the conversion, but my 94 XLE 4 cylinder with antilock brakes came with 4 wheel discs. You may start by looking at a boneyard for a 94 4 cylinder with antilocks and compare what you need to what's on your car now and try to buy those items off the boneyard car. Maybe take a few digital pictures of your rears and the proportioning valve and take them with you. I would also check the numbers on the proportioning valve in your car and the possible donor car and compare them to see if the valve is the same or different.
Good luck with the project. Mike |
