Im just on my way back to work, so i cant explain, but thought id just tell you LS's are great for turbos because of the lower compression.

you know exactly what hes done to his, and what gen is it (94- or 95+)
AWD or FWD?

anyways, yeah the lower compression and taller gearing makes the LS the optimal teg to boost, but on a budget i dont think your gonna smoke him anytime soon, a turbo kit will run you probably in the region of 3k, and you cant really boost it much til you build the engine to handle it.

for a budget the best thing you could do IMO is LSVTEC w/ bolt ons. not too cheap, maybe half the cost of turboing, the stock engine with 7 psi would probably come out ahead still, but you can be closer ot his bumper sooner, and later turbo that and then smoke him(maybe)
