98 lude shifting performance

I recently purchased a 1998 (stock) Honda Prelude and I have noticed that the shifts seem to be pretty hard. I have gotten a couple of mechanics at my work to test drive it and they seem to be experiencing the same problem. They say that it shifts hard because it is a performance car.I was wondering if there are any other lude owners who have experienced this problem and what they have done to cure it. let me know what u think. ( By the way, it is a 5spd manual).

what i mean is when shifting, the car seems to surge into gear, it doesn't seem to go into gear smoothly. the shifter goes in gear okay, but when getting off the clutch, there seems to be some lag.

Dunno what else you've been driving, but I drove about anything & everything I could get my hands on before getting my Prelude this past month, and it does bite harder in the clutch than other things; but that's probably what the mechanic was saying, "get used to it."

It's not gonna shift like a Civic (even the Si's, both older & new), the H22 is a lot more torque than even Integras of course too. Again, compare Civic: 1.6L-B16s 160 h.p. ~100-120 ft. lbs. (depending on the year), Integra: 1.8L-B18s-140 h.p. but 117 ft. lbs. (or the GS-R which I think are like 180/130?), vs. 2.2L-H22 195 h.p. ~150 ft. lbs. If I'm not careful I STILL chatter the wheels comin' off the line by lettin' it out too fast into first, but just be grateful you have that power & torque available, & get used to modulating the clutch esp. going into first.
