did you get it on the carpet or the cement? if you got paint on the carpet i could understand if he was a little mad unless you just use your basement for storing stuff and no one really does down there, maybe you could just find a really big box so it wont spray over, just dont get inside and and shut the top

Even if it did get on the carpet, it doesn't seem that importent because, as you said, the carpet is old and stained already.

I assume he pays the bills? So you can't say much if he doesn't like paint on the floor or carpet, after all its his house. However I understand, steps can be a real pain. I have a stepmom and we had some real problems when I was a teenager. It gets better, you get older and you get to move out. Oh wait that sucks too, because now you have to get a job and pay the bills.

Stepdad & moms are hard to deal with somtimes mainly cause you can't see their point of view being that your cursed by your age right now, but there is a way out. This is what you do, go to your step dad and apologize stating that you didn't realize the painting in the house wasn't a great idea. Then explain that you love doing models because they keep you out of trouble so would he mind if you painted outside in a larger box in the backyard. Now when you first aproach him ask him to hear you out and if he still feels strongly against it that you won't bring it up again. Let me know how it turns out because he should respect the fact that you admitted your faults and are willing to compromise. Good luck and keep us posted.

Nice plan, better than what I did. I got a job and was never home, of course that gave me cash to get into trouble with

He shouldn't of lost his cool if you got paint on the old carpet, if he put it in there he should of thought about what would hapen, I'm guessing you have chemicals etc down there too? I can understand him getting a little pissed off if you got paint on the carpet straight away, after he put it down there. My dad doesn't care about that stuff, I don't do it on carpet but I don't have carpet, we have floor boards. Do it outside anyway or you'll kill too many brain cells, I've done that and I didn't turn out ok

If it was me I'd tell him to take a chill pill and state the obvious facts about the carpet being down in the basement and also the facts about it ALREADY being stained and dirty, why does it amtter what gets on un exposed carpet anyway?
