Saw the weirdest little car today...

So, I was getting ready to hit the freeway on-ramp, when this little tiny red car goes zinging by as I was stopped at the light... Tried to catch up to it, but that sucker was QUICK! and I was driving my Jeep... There was a film-crew following behind it in a Suburban with a guy hanging out the window with a big-ass camera... Anyways, finally managed to catch up to it about 10 miles later as it exited the freeway, and I followed it to see if I could see the badging on the back, but didn't see any. Found some pictures of the car on Google, I guess it's called a "Tango". Seats 2 people driver in front, passenger in back. looks like it's about 2 and a half feet wide...

Anyways, probably nothing new to some of you, but here in Spokane, we don't really see stuff like that...

Quote:
0 to 100km/h in less than 4 seconds? The Electric Tango may look like a single seater Matiz but it also looks like tremendous fun!

It can, apparently, also reach a top speed of 200km/h - while it has a range of 130km.

As far as performance goes, the Tango is no slouch. Since electric cars - especially small ones - are generally thought to be slow and weak performers we set out to blow some minds by designing the Tango to accelerate through the standing 1/4 mile in 12 seconds at over 200km/h and travel from 0 to 100km/h in under 4 seconds.

Tango Specifications:

Width: 0.965m (15.25cm narrower than a Honda Gold Wing)
Length: 2.565m, allowing it to park perpendicular to the curb.
Height: 1.525m
Ground clearance: 10cm
Weight: 1 360kg (Projected)
Battery Box: 25 Optima Yellow Tops or Panasonic EV1260Us. Will fit 28 Ovonic Gen II batteries. However, unless a liquid cooled NiMH battery is developed, cooling will be an issue.
Nominal voltage: 300 VDC
Battery weight: 510kg
Charging: 50 amp on-board charger with Avcon conductive coupling. 200 amp Avcon w/ on-board charger under development.
Steering: Rack and pinion
Front suspension: Unequal length A arm with coil-over Pro shocks.
Rear suspension: Trailing arm with coil-over Pro shocks.
Controller: Zilla motor controller, providing up to 1 800 Amps at 300 Volts.
Motors: 2 Advanced DC 9" motors, one driving each rear wheel with 760Nm of combined torque.
Transmission: 2 direct drive gearboxes. Semi-quick-change with 10 available ratios from 2.92:1 to 5:1. Standard ratio is 3.86:1. Splined locker can be easily engaged by removing C-clip, sliding sleeve and replacing C-clip.
Wheels: 5.5 x 13, 3 spoke alloy, 5 bolt on 115mm centre
Hubs/wheel bearings: Pontiac Bonneville and some Cadillacs.
Tyres: BF Goodrich Euro T/A 175-50-13
Disk brakes: Acura Integra callipers front and rear.
Air conditioning: Optional or standard.
Seating and storage: 2nd passenger and several bags of groceries with rear seat installed. Removed, it allows seven 10-ream cartons of paper with the driver's seat all the way back.
Trailer hitch: Accepts standard 1" for towing generator cart for extended range.
Range: 130 kilometres
Cost per kilometre: About 1/2 the cost of a petrol car for the average commuter.
Acceleration: 0 to 100km/h, under 4 seconds. 1/4 mile time under 12 seconds at a speed of approximately 195km/h
Top Speed: 200km/h

Yeah...

My jeep is slow as shit, but still, I thought I'd be able to catch up to it, and it was gone!

WTF are the door handles doing down there?? That thing looks awfully rollover-prone. And, as Ci5ic said, why 2 doors?

Isn't that a bit small to be stable at 125 mph...?

Talk about a SLEEPER!

Stoplight killer! Plus, it will NEVER be loud.

Can you imagine the look on everybody's face if you ever take this to a drag track and bust 12's? LOL.

one of those one-time-drive cars like roadsters. Get in one accident, its totaled and you die.
