Somebody recently suggested covering the seat in something like hand moisturising cream (I can't remember who). Paint it in a flat colour then rub the cream onto the dry paint and it should look like the sheen you get from leather surfaces.
Alternatively mix flat and gloss paints in roughly 50:50 mix to get the right sort of shine.

I got a similar tip from another forum that I found worked fairly well. You paint everything in 'flat' colors, and then run your finger along your forehead (or nose, or any skin that is 'oily') and gently rub the 'oil' into the paint. It's kinda gross
, but it works pretty good. Gives it a slight sheen that's easy to do.Just be careful that you don't transfer any paint to your nose or you might look a little silly! Murray |

Intead of moisturizer or skin oils.... I've used one kind of thin coat of Future Floor wax. I just can't bring myself to rub my face all over my interior, though I have heard of that more than a few times.

Yeah, it is sorta gross. I did it on one model and found that it looked really good, but after a while it sorta fades away and doesn't really last. Finding a semi-gloss or something would likely be better.

For the texture of leather, I use a dry brush technique and pounce the paint onto the surface with a stiff brush until the paint starts to tack up. I've also used a sponge to apply paint in the same pouncing method. The idea here is to continue pouncing as the paint dries giving you the "leathering" texture you desire.
For the sheen I use a 50/50 mix of water and clear gloss.

i have a much better method . . . Go down to staples and get a 3-ring binder notebook that had vinyl on it . . . . than cut off the vinyl to cover up a seat or steering wheel ETC. . . . . . it should stick with white glue and since its BACK TO SKOOL sales, there only
$0.49 each.THEY also come in a variety of colors, i bought BLACK, WHITE, BLUE, AND TAN and DARK BROWN
